About Us
European Delight is an independent, family-owned and operated prepared food store. The store has been at the St. Lawrence Market since 1999. It has been located at the centre of the lower level since 2001.
Chef Oleg Popov (Certified Chef de Cuisine) is the driving force behind European Delight. Chef Oleg provides the store’s foundation rooted in his extensive experience in the restaurant, catering and retail food industries. He has previously worked in a number of restaurants across Europe and North America; trained young chefs in Toronto; and operated a gourmet food store in Oakville. Along with Chef Oleg, his wife Irina and son Boris are also involved in the daily operation of the store.
European Delight specializes in Eastern European cuisine. Like all traditional cuisines, those of Eastern Europe are products of history and geography. Therefore, they cannot be reduced to ‘specific’ dishes, as there is a spectrum of variation from place to place.
